The Four Secrets To Happiness are:
Secret 1) Laugh: -often, -long, -hard, -kindly.
Why? Laughing releases good feeling chemicals in our bodies; In order to laugh you have to lighten up, set down your problems and be open long enough to get the joke or see the funny or understand the humor. You simply can’t stay mad or depressed when laughing. So, do laugh often, long and hard; but be sure to Laugh kindly; don’t laugh at another’s pain or miss-fortune. So, laugh.
Secret 2) Listen: completely, actively, honestly.
True friends make our lives better. One of the best ways to attract true friends is to listen and pay attention to them. I feel better about you when you listen to me talk about me and you feel better about me when I listen to you talk about you. Also, how will you know what a person really is and what they really feel if you don’t listen to what they say and pay attention to what they do? Steven Covey, who wrote the bestseller, “7 Habits Of Highly Effective People” said seek to understand, then to be understood. Abraham Lincoln said, “I don’t like that fella, I must get to know him better.”
Listening is not only difficult, it’s also the most important part of communication and communication is what it’s all about so if we work to become better listeners, we are almost guaranteed to become better communicators.
Secret 3) Care: about self, health, other people, things, circumstances
Have something you care about-something to get up in the morning excited for. Caring becomes your reason–your WHY? And your WHY will motivate you to keep going when things get hard. Care, there’s no downside to caring–only upside.
Secret 4) Compare: Yourself to yourself– To Be The Best You
To Be The Best You, you must not compare yourself with others. It means to go after your style, listen to your heart, define your beauty. Do this and you will never be “less-than.” EXAMPLES OF LESS-THAN: I don’t have what you have, or look like you look so I feel less-than, less-valuable, less cool than you. Also, if you focus on Being the Best You, I guarantee you’ll be happier and won’t have to depend on the number of Facebook ‘likes’ or atta-boys to feel good. Let’s face it, one person can never be everything: the tallest and the smartest and the richest, and the best-looking and the best basketball player and, the strongest; but what we can do is be the smartest, strongest, healthiest, happiest person we can be. In other words, it is up to me to be the best ME I can be and up to you to be the BEST THE BEST YOU. Does that make sense? Is that a good goal?
Be well, work smart, have fun and Live Better Every Day!
