Wisest One: Greetings Seeker. You seem full.
Seeker: I am wise one.
Wisest One: Then let it flow.
Seeker: In the book, Full Life Balance the author says we should be well, work smart, have fun in order to Live Better Every Day. In the midst of this madness, how can one be well, work smart, have fun and Live better Every Day!? That sounds selfish and uncaring. What about all of this suffering?
Wisest One: This madness and suffering is exactly why we should strive to be well, work smart, have fun and live better every day! We owe it to ourselves and to the others around us to be what we truly are and strive relentlessly to become what we were given the potential to be.
Seeker: What do you mean?
Wisest One: I think Marianne Williamson said it best in her book, A Return to Love, when she wrote: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do….”
Seeker: So what that mean to me, right now, at this time with all of this crap going on?
Wisest One: What is means is this: all living things were born to be what they are. A tree has to be a tree, a beetle has to be a beetle, a human being is pre-disposed to being human. To be human is to be, among other things, born with a tremendous amount of potential that, if we tenaciously follow our destiny, we can achieve. That’s why we all celebrate the birth of a baby—we are celebrating what that baby may become. We are celebrating that little one’s potential to be incredible. Too often many of us settle, become less than our destiny because that’s what expected of us or that’s the limit of our imagination—but often, we suppress ourselves because those around us have suppressed themselves and, because these folks are family and friends, we suppress ourselves to maintain our relationships with them.
Secondly, we must do what we can to better ourselves, our circle, our world. But we must also know that millions of things will happen everyday that we will not have control over. We cannot let those things diminish us or our potential. Our job, our obligation, our responsibility is to do what we can when we can to be a generator of peace, compassion and success as opposed to a facilitator of envy, insecurity and evil.
Seeker: So are you saying that I should not work to maintain my relationships? That I should sometimes not compromise to keep relationship peace?
Wisest One: No, young seeker. I am saying that in spite of the negativity that you will encounter on your path you must continue to seek the light of knowledge which leads to wisdom which leads to truth. However, you will find it helpful to not share your full essence with those who are negative, envious and insecure. They will surely diminish your flame and make it increasingly difficult to shine.
Our time is up. Spend the next 15 minutes meditating on this conversation and how it affects your life. Then spend 5 minutes absolutely quiet and just focus on your breathing to ‘lock-in’ the truth. Until next time, continue to be what you want others to be.
Seeker: Thank you, wise one.
CONVERSATIONS WITH THE WISEST PERSON IN THE WORLD: Q: Why is there so much evil in the world?
WISE ONE: It has to do with mankind’s essential nature.
Q: What is man’s essential nature?
WISE ONE: Man’s essential nature is good.
Q: But how is evil connected to man’s essential good nature.
WISE ONE: Because evil is the opposite of good. If there is good their must be evil.
Q: But can’t there just be good?
WISE ONE: Good question, let’s look at nature. Let’s look at everything around you. Is it sunny today?
WISE ONE: Is it sunny all the time?
WISE ONE: What is the opposite of sunny?
Q: Cloudy or cold and rainy.
WISE ONE: Do you think we could exist if it was always sunny?
WISE ONE: Why not?
Q: Because we need rain.
WISE ONE: You are correct, and..?
Q: It would be boring to have it sunny all the time. But good and evil are different.
WISE ONE: Different how?
Q: It would not be a problem if everyone was good all the time. We could not only live, but live better.
WISE ONE: I agree, however, the fact remains that evil exists.
Q: But why doesn’t every one just choose to be good and nice to each other?
WISE ONE: Because good is not the only part of man’s essential nature.
Q: What else is part of it?
WISE ONE: Ignorance. Ignorance mixed with laziness creates hate. An ignorant person who is too lazy to seek the truth lends himself to prejudices and biases.
Q: So, if people stop being ignorant we could eliminate hate?

THE GOOD RULE—When I mention spiritual key some folks think “oh boy, religion” and turn off because they think I am about to sermonize—I am not, and I don’t. My definition of spirituality is THE GOOD RULE: do good, be good and show others by your example the power of goodness. For some being spiritual is being religious and that’s OK; for some being spiritual is meditation and reflection and striving to obtain a peaceful mentality and that’s OK; and for some spirituality is spending time watching the waves at the ocean or reflecting on the wonder of a redwood forest and that’s OK—all of these activities are spiritual to my way of thinking because they help you pause from the day to day and get in touch with yourself.
This part of yourself needs to be addressed periodically, whether believe in God, Buddha, Allah, the spirit, nature or nothing. So for those of your who do not believe in a higher power, please still do some type of pause away from the grind, reflection or meditative activity because the process or pausing, reflecting and/or meditating, as confirmed by numerous studies, does help physically, emotionally, mentally—and for me and others, spiritually.
Give sincere compliments every day. Watch babies, be they human or animal, and revel in the miracle. DAILY TIP: 5 MINUTES OF PEACE: for 5 minutes every day do nothing be quiet and let your inner self speak to you.
AVOID THE MIND AND BODY TRAPS THAT LIE IN YOUR PATH—Surround yourself with, listen to and befriend positive encouraging people. Go to rest with a good thought inside. Do not make the who-killed-who news the last thing your mind sees before you go to sleep.
Remember THE GOOD RULE: DO GOOD, BE GOOD AND SHOW OTHERS THE POWER OF GOOD
